Sub-genres in Thrillers. Crime thrillers

Crime Thrillers

This genre offered a lot of suspense and excitement within the films made. They usually consist of failed or successful crime which can start small and lead to the highest scale of criminal act. Crime thrillers usually focus on the criminal more then the detective/policeman who is chasing them down. My thought would be that they do this to create more suspense and fluctuation in the film.

Central topics that are consistently in Crime thrillers include murder, robberies, chases, shoot-outs, heists and double crossings.

Seven (movie) poster.jpg An example of a film which involves a murder is Finchers American Thriller, Seven (1995), In the film investigated discover a murder in which an obese man is found dead as he had been forced to feed himself to death by a serial killer.

Examples of some of the best Crime thrillers include:
  • Get Carter (1971)
  • Pulp Fiction (1994)
  • No Country For Old Men (2007)
