The Silence of the Lambs (1991) is an American horror/crime thriller directed by Jonathan Demme. The film is based on Thomas Harris' novel written in 1988.In the film Clarice Starling a young FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr Lecter to apprehend another serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill".
The silence of the lambs grossed $272.2 million worldwide against a $19 million budget and was only the third film, behind One flew over the Cuckoo's nest (1975) and It Happened One Night (1934), to win Academy Awards in all the top 5 categories.
